In 1967, Fairport Convention revolutionized the British music scene by taking traditional English folk music and mixing it with rocking beats. While the band has changed over the 35 years, the current lineup has original member Simon Nicol joined by Dave Pegg, Jerry Conway, Ric Sanders and Chris Leslie doing justice to the old standards while still creating exciting, original and evocative folk-rock music.
Famed fingerstyle guitarist John Renbourn was a seminal member of the British folk-rock scene in the 1960's, as part of the group Pentangle. Since venturing out as a solo artist, John's music can best be labeled as "folk-Baroque" for its fusion of British and Celtic folk music with jazz, country, blues, ragtime, classical, Middle Eastern and pre-Renaissance music.
